Tarptautinė politika XXI amžiuje išgyveno transformaciją.
Šių pokyčių eiga, rodanti tarpusavio sąveiką tarp tarptautinės politikos ir tokio naujo reiškinio kaip kosmosas, meta iššūkį tarptautinių santykių teorijoms, ypač situacijoje, kai tarptautinės politikos raida paveikė visą šių teorijų pagrindą.
Nuo pirmųjų kosminių veiklų ankstyvuoju kosmoso laikotarpiu iki šiandienos inovacijų plėtros ir veiklos tęstinumo naujojoje kosmoso eroje, tarptautinių santykių teorijos patyrė atsiradimą, nuosmukį arba transformaciją viena po kitos.
Šiame straipsnyje taikomas kokybinis požiūris ir teorinis-taikomasis tyrimo metodas siekiant atsakyti į klausimą: koks yra tarptautinių santykių teorijų statusas susidūrus su transformuota tarptautine politika, kurią veikia kosmoso technologijos?
Tyrimo išvados, aptarusios politikos ir kosmoso santykį bei teorijų požiūrius, suskirstytus į:
(a) klasikinius – neorealizmą ir neoliberalizmą,
(b) sintezinius – struktūralizmą ir postmodernizmą,
(c) šiuolaikinius – postmodernizmą ir ekologizmą,
rodo būtinybę stiprinti, koreguoti ar net atmesti kai kurias teorijas bei pabrėžia poreikį sukurti naują teorinį modelį, kuris:
– dėmesio centre matytų įvairių tipų veikėjus,
– apimtų tiek materialias, tiek nematerialias struktūras,
– atsižvelgtų į procesus, kylančius iš realybės virtualizavimo,
kurie ir formuoja XXI amžiaus tarptautinės politikos raidą, veikiamą kosmoso reiškinių.
